International conference GLOBAL .comMUNICATION

Warsaw, April 2-6, 2001

The international conference GLOBAL .comMUNICATION is organised by Independent Student Association of Warsaw School of Economics (WSE). It is especially designed for students of economic and business universities all over Europe and students of WSE. The Conference is patronised by the Rector of WSE, prof. Marek Rocki, and the Business Centre Club (BCC).

Our purpose is to teach the students how to co-operate effectively in the international case-teams, in which various cultures and habits meet. We are sure that the knowledge acquired thanks to this conference will help them in better understanding these differences, which is particularly crucial while working for international corporations. However, it will also help in breaking through the barriers resulting from our cultural background and dealing with co-operation in an effective way.

To work efficiently in the world of expanding globalisation people have to combine the knowledge of IT with understanding of specific cross - cultural differences. While working in the international teams we face the problems connected with breaking through the cultural barriers. The knowledge obtained during conference will be for its participants basic in such situations, both in the professional and private contacts.

In order to cover fully all of the mentioned aspects, a special program has been prepared. It includes some necessary theory but we decided that practical tasks are much more important. We arranged different training carried on by high-level specialists in communication and cross-cultural management. All theoretical clues together with practical exercises will prepare the students for the last part of our conference, which will be a Case Study.

Additional event. One day of our Conference is designed for the first in Poland student Fair of Business Portals. The purpose of the invited companies is to present the advantages of economic service on-line.

We provide:
- interesting courses, lectures and training led by highly qualified specialists,
- food and accommodation (1.04 - 7.04.2001),
- transport in place,
- trip and entertainment,
- nice week in Poland.

Participants. In the application process we will choose 20 students from all applicants. From 2 to 6 April 2001 they will learn and than practise: effective co-operation in the international teams, cross cultural communication and management. The conference will also cover the aspects of new possibilities created by the Internet in the interpersonal and professional communication.

If you:
- speak English
- are at least at the second year of your studies
- are interested in matters of cross-cultural management and effective team co-operation
- like to have fun and to meet interesting people and new friends

Costs
- Participation fee is $50 (to be paid in Poland)
- All participants are expected to cover the costs of arriving to Warsaw.
