The Baltic International Summer School Organized by: Vidzeme University College Vidzeme University College (Vidzemes Augstkola) was established by the Norwegian royal family in 1996 to stop the intellectual brain-drain of the northern region of Latvia, stimulating economic, social and political development of region, and contribute to reforms in higher education in the Republic Latvia. The university with its 450 students is considered elite. In 1999 The Baltic International Summer School was based on this university. So far 80 students from 21 countries have taken part in The Baltic International Summer School. This school offers a variety of intensive courses on Baltic matters, especially tailored for foreign students and teachers. The Baltic International Summer School will help foreign participants gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of the Baltic countries. During 3 intensive weeks university teachers and other qualified personals will offer courses on a wide series of Baltic topics. The tutoring will allow you to find a lot of friends from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Poland, Japan, Romania and other countries of the world. You will have a possibility to investigate ancient Riga's streets, to bath in the Baltic sea in Parnu or in Jurmala, to drink tasty Latvian beer, to learn to dance the national Baltic dances, to visit the Northern Estonia.
